Kunst-Projekt in der ehemaligen Glanzstoff-Fabrik in St. Pölten
DAS PROJEKT
Schon beim ersten Besuch der Art Session 2023 und den Räumlichkeiten der Glanzstoff-Fabrik hat mich die Umgebung fasziniert und den Wunsch hervorgerufen, mich mit den Räumlichkeiten in Form eines Projekts künstlerisch auseinanderzusetzen. Die "Glanzstoff" ist nicht nur eine außergewöhnliche Location für eine Kunst-Ausstellung, es ist ein Ort, an dem industriell produziert wurde, viele Menschen ihr Arbeitsleben verbracht haben, und sehr viele Chemikalien verwendet wurden, die teilweise sehr hohe Umweltbelastungen mit sich brachten. Noch heute ist am Gelände die Deponie Nord vorhanden, deren Bodenbelastung über den Grenzwerten liegt, aber unter der Maßnahmenschwelle. Das hat mich wiederum im weiteren Sinne zur Frage gebracht: "Wie gehen wir mit unserer Umwelt (heute) um?" Der Klimawandel ist stetiger Begleiter. Bodenversiegelung liegt in NÖ an der Tagesordnung. Als Künstlerin habe ich das Gefühl, dass es allen Verantwortlichen (Politik, Industrie) bewusst ist, aber aus Bequemlichkeit ignoriert wird. Quasi nach dem Motto, die Welt geht unter und wir feiern weiter, als wäre nichts passiert. Dabei wird nicht die Welt untergehen, sondern konkret gesprochen, vorher die Menschheit aussterben.

Die Intention ist es zu zeigen, dass wir konsumieren, ohne zu hinterfragen. Die teilweise Gutgläubigkeit an die da "oben". Es zeigt das Privileg des Luxus, ohne dabei im Wissen sein zu wollen, wer schlussendlich die Konsequenzen trägt. Die Konsumation von "Gift" in freudiger Erwartung, dass es vollkommen harmlos sein und keinerlei Auswirkungen hat. Doch jede Form von Konsum hat Auswirkungen, ob wir diese direkt spüren oder nicht.
OBJEKTKUNST
"Des Teufels Braut"
Eine Schaufensterpuppe, die symbolisch für die Norm und den Durchschnitt steht. Also quasi für jeden Erdenbewohner. Bekleidet mit einem surrealistischen Hochzeitskleid. Das Kleid wurde mit dem 1987 veröffentlichen Songtext "It´s the end of the world as we know it" von der Band R.E.M. beschrieben. Damit möchte ich aufzeigen, dass jede nur wirtschaftlich gesteuerte Ausrichtung und die dem Kapitalismus dienende Entscheidung schlussendlich ein Pakt mit dem "Teufel"ist, wobei der Mensch schlussendlich nur verlieren kann. BILDENDE KUNST
Das Werk von Jedida Lefèvre "Jeder Untergang braucht seine Utopie" reiht sich in den Reigen der Thematik ein. Das Pferd symbolisiert dabei die apokalyptischen Reiter und die damit einhergehende Apokalypse, die mit dem Schwefelregen einhergeht. Dessen Symbolik ebenso in einem Vergleich mit Umweltgiften übereinstimmt.
THE PROJECT
From my very first visit to Art Session 2023 and the premises of the Glanzstoff factory, I was fascinated by the surroundings and felt the desire to engage with the space artistically in the form of a project. Glanzstoff is not only an extraordinary location for an art exhibition, it is a place where industrial production took place, where many people spent their working lives, and where a great deal of chemicals were used, some of which had a very high environmental impact. Even today, the Nord landfill site is still present on the premises, with soil contamination above the limit values but below the action threshold. This, in turn, led me to ask the broader question: “How do we treat our environment (today)?” Climate change is a constant companion. Soil sealing is the order of the day in Lower Austria. As an artist, I have the feeling that all those responsible (politics, industry) are aware of this, but ignore it out of convenience. It's as if the world is coming to an end and we're continuing to celebrate as if nothing has happened. But it's not the world that will end, but rather, to be specific, humanity will become extinct first.
PHOTOGRAPHY, Poison Ivy
The intention is to show that we consume without questioning. The partial credulity in those “at the top.” It shows the privilege of luxury without wanting to know who ultimately bears the consequences. The consumption of “poison” in joyful anticipation that it is completely harmless and has no effects. But every form of consumption has effects, whether we feel them directly or not.
OBJECT ART
“The Devil's Bride”
A mannequin that symbolizes the norm and the average. In other words, virtually every inhabitant of Earth. Dressed in a surrealistic wedding dress. The dress was described in the lyrics of the song “It's the end of the world as we know it” by the band R.E.M., released in 1987. With this, I want to show that any orientation driven solely by economic considerations and any decision that serves capitalism is ultimately a pact with the “devil,” in which humans can only lose in the end. Cf. Goethe's Faust.
VISUAL ARTS
Jedida Lefèvre's work “Every Downfall Needs Its Utopia” fits into the theme. The horse symbolizes the horsemen of the apocalypse and the accompanying apocalypse that comes with the rain of sulfur. Its symbolism also corresponds to a comparison with environmental toxins.
